Friends,
We are very happy to offer thirty-four fine prints in our latest update. In the large Kamigata section, you will notice more than a few of the tradition’s "greatest hits." This is the kind of assortment that, due to such pieces consistently disappearing from the market and into museums, one could only dream of acquiring in recent years.
Better news yet, the celebrated masterpieces — by Hokushu, Kunihiro and Hokuei — all possess a radiant pallet, the kind of condition we rarely encountered, even in the days of better availability. (Wormholes is the sole condition problem of this group, a situation remedied through truly expert restoration.)
Please note, as well, the other Kamigata prints in this update, including very striking designs by Sadanobu, Sadayoshi, Hokuyo and Nobukatsu, all in exemplary condition. Plus there are some hard-to-find works by Ashiyuki and Yoshitaki.
The 20th century section features two idiosyncratically-printed modernist pieces by Fujimori Shizuo, one of the most revered of the pre-war sôsaku artists. Also in that section please have a look at unusually-themed works by Asano Takeji and Morita Osandô, the latter a never-before-encountered Osaka artist.
Finally, not to be overlooked are two representative prints from Edo, one a distinct rarity. As always, please don’t hesitate to inquire about these prints, or any of the items in our inventory.
We look forward to hearing from you.
All the best,
Peter Ujlaki
